Working on a new S100 skin inspired on Apple's Carplay

I just want to show to everybody the new skin for S100 that I'm developing now. It's based and inspired on the Apple's Carplay.
 



 
 

 

 


















This post will be updated time to time during the developement of the skin, comments and suggestions are very wellcome. :)

    Hi KoTix, I like all your work on this platform S100, making it more "alive" than it was intended to be.
    Is it possible to know what software you are using to modify the position of the "clickable" icons ? it's amazing !!

    There is the possibility of providing Portuguese Pt-Br language including? You have many people who follow your work here in Brazil!

      I'm not replacing or adding any new string, the skin will use the default strings so for every language there will be standard strings without any translation problems.

    my firmware to the S100 this outdated and can not in the new Roadnav, u would not al a firmware that serves the hardware below:
    OS: S100-UNI.A20140106-B2.1 -
    APP: S100-APP-V1.3.9.7 -
    MCU:Z60L S00E C239 -
    DVD:3255 V100 7706 -
    BT: 20121204 -
    OEM info: A018 -

      It's not compatible with c219 for BMW x1 but should be OK for all others.

    Hi Kotix,
    you helped me last summer with skinning of my S100, back when you were on Android. And now I see you're back! GREAT!!! Best news of this year!

    I love the Apple skin you're making, and when you're done with it I'll be the 1st to buy it. I have only made some small modifications myself but I know very well how much time and patience are needed to make a great-looking and functional skin, so I belive you're doing right to ask for some recompensation.

    If there's anything I can help you with, just tell me and I'll do the best I can.

      There is a lot of to do on this new skin but i hope for about january/febrary to make a first release.
      In the while i'll release a new skin pack with some new nice features in the skintool (fake id201 and hard button mod to launch music player from "Mute" or any other button), possibility to replace Opera Mini with Opera10 and maybe other stuff..
      So keep in touch for a Christmas small gift :)

    I think that the top left hand text "MENU" "SETTINGS" and other menus should be able to be different colors. Audi's have red interfaces and lights and it should match. Other peoples interiors are blue like you already have and they would match. It would make the skin merge better with all cars. I did not like my default S100 skin because it was orange and all the menus were different colors and my dash lights are red.

      To make colors changable would need me to make a skin for each color... Maybe a different color forma each section would be easyer andò more flexible?

      That is what most of these units are like from factor and it is annoying. I hate having one menu orange, then the radio menu is green, my cd menu is blue, etc...

      I think if you just changed the colors to the 3 primary colors people could purchase what color they wanted. That way you do not have to do every color.

    I think the menu and time feature on the far right should be on the left. Or can you make it changeable? This way people who are right hand drive can have it on the right and people who are left hand drive can have it on the left.

    This skin is great and looking forward to see on my S100... I have a question for you... I wonder if we can use tomtom maps on our WinCe based devices?

      You can use an old version of TomTom for wince or use igo (primo) but selecting TomTom maps available for it.

    Hi Kotix,

    Is there any possibility to run a different browser on Wince devices or a media player for youtube videos... I just bought a wifi adapter for my C230 S100 and I connected my device successfully to my home network but I couldn't run youtube videos on the screen... Youtube videos are not compatible with Opera mini and default media player I guess. Maybe you can find a solution in your new skin pack for these issues.

      This week i'll release the new skinpack that include a feature to replace OperaMini with a more functional Opera10 but i don't know if it support youtube videos.
      There is also the zetaKey Browser avalilable that support html5:

      The new skinpack will not include the Carplay skin because it will be finished by the end of february.
      BTW there will be some new stuff, features, fixes and so on.

    Hi Kotix, this Apple Skin , will it be included in the 2015 Skinpack you have out now already, or is it an extra pack to pay?
    Meaning, if I support and buy the skinpack 2015 now, will it be updated with the apple skin later when its done?

      Ok, no problem, like your work, had the change to test an older Skin package and it was working and looking quite nicely.
      Gonna purchase the current package and hope that the Apple skin isn't that expensive then ;-) .

      That doesn't depend on the skin you use but on the firmware version and on the kind of player You use.
      With nitrogen you can browse by folder.
